"Isle-of-Harris.com" is a proposed community server for the Isle of Harris. Long term goals are to install some content management sofware and have the community create the website so that it always contains the latest news and events, photos, articles and forums etc.
Update: Isle of Harris e-mail addresses now up and running with anti-virus scanning and spam filtration, Webmail, shared community calendar, private calendar, shared/private task lists and notes and central LDAP directory. Can be used immediately with e-mail client like Outlook, Thunderbird, Eudora, Incredimail etc but webmail still has to be configured correctly as custom hooks into LDAP directory have to be coded to allow users to update their passwords etc.
We've been using Isle of Harris email addresses for about a year now and are quite happy with it. It is particulary good at filtering out spam. So if you are interested in having a your-name@isle-of-harris.com e-maill address then just send me an e-mail to and we'll set one up for you free of charge. Its much cooler having an Isle of Harris email address rather than the standard hotmail/yahoo/gmail etc.
